Get Your Gingham On

Monday, 17 July 2017

How gingham managed to sneak its way onto the catwalks this spring/summer is beyond me. Maybe I am eternally haunted by trying to make gingham 'trendy' 20 years ago. Lets just say, I have been riding the gingham bandwagon for as long as I can remember. And not always at my own discretion...

My mom used to dress me layers of gingham when I was little. I had gingham hats, leggings, dresses, hand warmers... you name it, I basically had my very own custom made gingham wardrobe. I say 'custom made' because gingham was purely only used to make tea towels and picnic blankets back in the day. And while people would swoon over how 'adorable' I looked in my gingham rig-outs, I was always a bit dubious. When I saw it splashed all over Vogue this summer I was smitten. Safe to say I was fully equipped for this seasons biggest trend!

I picked up this gingham dress a few weeks ago in Primark and I absolutely love it. By far my biggest bargain yet. I have found a very similar one from NastyGal which you can view here.
I have also posted some of my favorite gingham pieces below which I am loving at the moment. I have included some stunning gingham print bikinis in my post here if you missed it. I notice that people tend to either love or absolutely hate gingham, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Have a great week!
