South of France - Outfits, Food And More

Sunday, 3 December 2017

Hello from beautiful France.

Current situation: French coffee by my side, snow capped Pyrenees in the distance, pain au chocolats tempting me as they sit behind the counter of the coffee shop looking all hot and delicious...

I am in Pau! In the south of France. My boyfriend is here for work so I decided to seize the opportunity to tag along and discover a new corner of France. I love this country. The food, the culture, the wine, the landscape. Its all so beautiful. And don't get me started on the apple compote. In just 48 hours I have eaten 2kg of compote... No joke. Compote with cereal, compote with dark chocolate, compote with banana... compote is life. I plan to squeeze a couple of jars in my suitcase going home also!

Of course there is more to Pau that compote, but it is definitely worth mentioning! Pau is a small city in the south, close to the Pyrenees. It is the perfect place to simply unwind and relax. I love walking through the narrow cobbled streets discovering the small little French boutiques and markets. The Christmas markets are also in place in the main square so there is a nice festive buzz around. We found the cutest apartment on Airbnb, I included some pictures below. It is located right in the heart of Pau. I love the decor, its so chic and French. I love renting from Airbnb because it allows you to really live like a local.

When we aren't eating, we are exploring. The great thing about Pau is that it is so close to the Pyrenees AND the sea. My two favorite places. The fresh air, tranquility and breath-taking views, what more could one ask for?? Biarritz is about a 40 minute drive from Pau. I was there last year but loved it so much I wanted to go back. If you love designer shopping Biarritz has it all - From Hermes to Zadig et Voltaire. Be sure to visit the Hôtel du palais, which overlooks the stunning coastline of Biarritz.

This time we also ventured outside Biarritz to a small town called Saint Jean de Luz. It is a stunning French town by the sea, so quaint and perfect with cute little shops and restaurants to keep your belly very satisfied.

Tomorrow we are heading down to the north of Spain for the weekend. After spending a year studying in Spain, I have grown so in love with everything about it. I cannot wait to be back there!!

Until next time! À bientôt !
